Programs are the backbone of The Great Michigan Read. Whether you’re working on your own or with a nonprofit (or even a for-profit!), we encourage new approaches to reading and literature.

Programs can range from discussion groups to media projects to guest speakers – the possibilities are endless. The Michigan Humanities Council offers funding for qualified nonprofit organizations.

Nonprofit organizations who sign up for The Great Michigan Read are eligible to receive a program kit, including reader’s guides, promotional bookmarks and posters, and a Hemingway in Michigan documentary DVD. Please contact the Council for more information.

When you confirm your Great Michigan Read programming, please contact the Council so your activities can be listed on the events calendar. And, feel free to utilize the toolkit, where organizations can find a sample press release, poster templates, assessment forms, and other program planning resources.
